Over the years I've turned into a skincare junkie. I have fair skin and I have a normal/combination skin type , but I'm always looking for the latest and greatest to make my skin look healthy, glowing and youthful.
You guys...I've tried SO many brands...SO MANY. I've tried everything from Chanel to good 'ole coconut oil. When buying skincare, I try to get the most natural option that works. Sometimes, just because it's natural doesn't mean it's the best for your skin...and vice versa.
Here are some of my favorites essentials for summer that I always keep in stock and that really work for my skin!
First things first...
Sunscreen
This is a must, no matter where you are or what you're doing. Please wear sunscreen!
I found this great graphic from the American Academy of Dermatology that explains what you should be looking for when selecting a sunscreen.
Face
I discovered this sunscreen recently and I am OBSESSED. It's clear you guys!
No, seriously...hence the name "unseen", it doesn't leave that awful white cast!
(we are trying to look nice and bronzed over here!).
Also, I love that it's the consistency of a makeup primer, so when I use this I dont use a primer at all, and you only need a pea-sized amount.
Body
I love the convenience of a spray sunscreen for my body. This one is also clear, and it smells great, but more importantly it actually works.
It's also reef safe and biodegradable (yay!)
Moisturizer
I alternate my moisturizer because I find that my skin gets used to certain products, and after a while they don’t work as effectively. Also, sometimes I prefer a gel and sometimes I want to lather my skin in something thicker (summer vs. winter time).
Gel Moisturizer
This moisturizer is great for the warmer months of the year. It's lightweight, but it still gets the job done! It also has hyaluronic acid which really retains the moisture in your skin, and I can easily wear it before applying my makeup!
Cream Moisturizer
This is my favorite for the colder months, when your skin needs that extra boost to feel supple, dewy and moisturized!
It's oil free, so it won't clog my pores, free of all the nasties you don't want in your skincare, and it restores and protects the skin's natural barrier.
Oil
God I LOVE this stuff. I don't always use an oil unless my skin really needs it and I am super dry, but when I do, I use The Ordinary rose hip seed oil.
It hydrates the skin, reduces redness, and helps even out your skin tone. LOVE. IT!
Eye Cream
This is my go-to eye cream. It's super easy to wear because it's a gel, I apply it day and night and it's packed with hyaluronic acid (which I am a fan of!)
It's also lightweight and wears well under my makeup.
