If you've read my Barcelona Travel Guide, you know that Sitges is my favorite coastal town just 45 minutes outside of Barcelona, Spain. A day trip to Sitges is the perfect Mediterranean getaway from the hustle and bustle of Barcelona. The beaches are clean and relaxing, the seafood is fresh and delicious and the town of Sitges itself is filled with local art, top-rated nightlife and boutique shopping!
Getting To Sitges

It's actually super easy to go from Barcelona to Sitges, you take one train all the way down! You can check train times directly on the Barcelona Metro website. First, select the train station closest to you as your departure point. Then, select Sitges as your travel destination. You can purchase your train tickets directly from the website, however, I recommend you purchase them directly from the train station ticket machine. The roundtrip cost of the train tickets is about $14.00 pp.
Pro tip: You don't actually save money by purchasing a round trip ticket. To avoid missing your train on the way back purchase a one way ticket back and forth. Make sure to check the train timetable so you don't miss the last train!
Life's a Beach...and Sitges has 17!
Yes, you read that right, Sitges has 17 beaches! Whether you're looking for a family friendly beach, a nudist beach or a LGBTQ beach, all of the beaches in Sitges have their own style so you are bound to find something to suit your needs!
Most of the beaches cater to everyone and are friendly to all walks of life, so don't be afraid to venture onto different beaches to experience different vibes! Here is the low down on the main beaches.
Platja de Sant Sebastià - Located on the East side of the church of Sant Bartomeu & Santa Tecla, this is quite a small beach, but popular amongst locals and families.
Platja de les Anquines - Located on the most Western side of Sitges, if you want to get away from all the people, this beach is the most secluded and located near a cove.
Platja de la Fragata - The most active beach. Located right below Sant Bartomeu & Santa Tecla church, this beach is usually the busiest and has the most activities available, such as volleyball and pedal boats.
Platja de la Bassa Rodona - Very popular amongst the LGBTQ crowd and one the main beaches.
Spill the tea...where do I get rid of these tan lines?! If you're looking for the nudist experience there are 3 main beaches.
Platja dels Balmins/Platja d'Aiguadolç - The largest nude beach about a 15 min walk East from the church, they are technically two beaches but they are right next each other. Bathing suit optional!
Platja de l'Home Mort - Located about an hour by foot from the church of Sant Bartomeu & Santa Tecla and the hardest to get to. This beach is primarily known to the LGBTQ community as a nudist beach. Plan accordingly and give yourself plenty of time to get back to town, since walking alongside of the train tracks (longer path) or the steep climb up (shortest path) might not be the safest at night.

For dessert you MUST go to Gofras!
I actually planned on going to Sitges just to eat one of these waffles and I was crushed to find out they are only open during the summer months. I remember the taste of these waffles and coming here as little girl. Everything is made from scratch and the store has been open since 1982!
My favorite is the waffle topped with Nutella and home whipped cream. Ughh sooo good!!!
Nightlife
Carrer del Pecat aka Street of Sin - The main strip in Sitges with all the bars and clubs from LGBTQ to straight and all of the above!
